From the Well Head to the Web Site

GlobaLogix provides Real Time Operations (RTO)

RTOLess than 20% of the wells, worldwide, have any type of automation or monitoring installed. When up-stream production equipment, such as compression, pumps, tank batteries is considered this percentage is much less. Downstream operations have enjoyed the benefits of various forms of automation for literally decades. It is now time to migrate proven technologies into the production operations of the up-stream market. This will be driven by two factors in the North American sector; rising oil and gas prices and an aging field workforce.  The average age of a field technician is well over 50 years old.  This workforce is also dwindling. The point is that seeking out technical solutions will be a necessity, not an option.

Many companies are looking for the means to make production operations more efficient. The desire to pull work out of the system is almost universal in the industry. Applying technology to the field has been going on for years with various levels of success. A first step in this process must be an integrated effort to study:

1. what work is currently being done in the field;

2. what work is actually necessary and

3. what technologies are available that can replace current work.

Answers to these questions will lead to a customized process that we call Real Time Operations.

For many years the mode of production operations was manual and manpower intensive. Multiple site visits were necessary to monitor the production equipment. Any optimization was done after the fact with old information that had in many cases been gathered days or week previously. Production is lost, not simply deferred, when production equipment is down for mechanical reasons for due to operator inattention. Environmental issues such as spills, releases of sour gas or exhaust emissions outside of permitted levels on poorly maintained equipment, are discovered after the fact, exposing the producer to fines and costly remediation. As long as production companies rely solely upon the site visits of operators the real costs in lost production, safety concerns and exposure to fines reduces profitability.

Real Time Operations is defined as gathering raw data from oil and gas wells and monitoring remotely such peripheral facilities as compressors, pump stations, meter runs and tank batteries. RTO is an integrated data management solution that collects field data and converts it to usable information immediately in an ongoing service that facilitates greater control and enhances profitability for the client. GlobaLogix provides the field service, the hardware, the communication and the delivery of information in a format that is meaningful and timely and impacts the producer’s bottom line. Real Time Operations pulls work from the system and improves profitability.
